How to Get a Video Featured On Viddler.com

A strange thing happened today.. I began getting tweets from people left and right saying “nice video on viddler” I didn’t think much of it because I uploaded the video like 5 days ago. At first I just thought they were referring to this post on the Viddler Blog. Out of curiosity, I went to viddler and to see what the fuss was about below is a snapshot of what I saw

August 26 Featured Video

I was the August 26th Featured Video on the homepage of Viddler and I would like to tell you how I accomplished this.

Actually I did not set out to accomplish being featured on Viddler. I was not even trying to make a video that would get lots of views. I was honestly expressing my opinion about some of the features that I like about the new viddler video player. Sorry I can’t tell you the secret to getting your video featured on Viddler or any other Video sites, but I can give you 2 quick lessons from this little 2 minute video I made.

1. Your video does not have to be perfect to be effective. I recorded this on the iSight camera on my computer and the quality is rough at best. Please do not wait for perfection or even near perfection before you start using video. Get started and then improve your videos over time.
2. You don’t set out to create “Featured Videos” just create useful quality content and you will find your audience. Let me explain. I did not aim to be on Viddler and you should not aim to make a viral video. Just create the best video you can with all your passion, unique personality and quality content and then do that again and again and again. You’ve got to be pumping out the content online if you want to be successful marketing in this space.

Those are all my tips. By the way, I didn’t make this Video about viddler so viddler would give me some love. I really do like the Viddler Video Player.
